English

Who can apply: Years 5 and 6 students.
How to apply: Interested students must submit an application form for entrance. Shortlisted students will need to attend an academic entrance exam.

The Primary ASPIRE Academic English program aims to develop and extend student knowledge and thinking within a challenging and rigorous environment. Guided by experienced teachers, students investigate global concepts via a skills based curriculum. They are offered opportunities to immerse themselves in extended creative writing, critical analysis of text and master the vital skills of public speaking while deepening their understanding of core curriculum. The classroom environment encourages an increased learning pace which allows time for lateral extension of topics. Students also have opportunities to participate in competitions as well as curriculum specific excursions.

Mathematics and Science

Who can apply: Years 5 and 6 students.
How to apply: Interested students must submit an application form for entrance. Shortlisted students will need to attend an academic entrance exam featuring short answer response questions.

The Primary ASPIRE Mathematics/Science program offers students a unique and innovative curriculum that focuses on enriching and enhancing student learning through real-world experiences. Guided by experienced teachers, students have a deeper and richer access to the Australian Curriculum in both Mathematics and Science, with emphasis on a problem based learning approach.

Students have the opportunity to work with like-minded students while developing the skills of communicating, reasoning, problem solving and risk taking. Students also have opportunities to participate in competitions as well as curriculum specific excursions and hands on activities.

Digital Technologies

Who can apply: Years 4 to 6 students.
How to apply: Interested students must submit an application form along with a USB containing a self-created information system (e.g. Scratch, Kodu, Robotics). Shortlisted students must attend an interview with a panel of experienced staff.

The Primary ASPIRE Digital Technologies program caters for students who demonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding of information systems and practices. The program aims to foster curiosity, confidence, persistence, innovation, creativity and cooperation through authentic learning challenges using contemporary and emerging digital technology. Students work collaboratively with their peers, mentor teachers and industry experts in areas such as coding, robotics and programming. This cutting edge program develops 21st Century digital learners who use design thinking and innovative practices.

Athletic Development

Who can apply: Years 4 to 6 students.
How to apply: Interested students must submit an application form. Shortlisted students must attend an interview with a panel of experienced teachers and take part in the following physical tests to allow staff to determine their suitability: Beep test (Aerobic endurance), 20m–50m Sprint (Anaerobic capacity), Illinois agility and ladder tests (Agility).

The Primary ASPIRE Athlete Development program caters for students who display passion, enthusiasm and talent for sport. The program aims to develop speed, agility, aerobic endurance, anaerobic capacity and coordination through training programs developed by experienced staff and professionals. Students build knowledge in the area of health and nutrition.

The program is designed to instil respect, responsibility, leadership and sportsmanship in our athletes. Students are offered opportunities to be challenged beyond the physical education curriculum through specialised training programs and workshops.

Music

Who can apply: Years 4 to 6 students.
How to apply: Interested students must submit an application form along with a USB containing their 1–2 minute performance using their chosen instrument. Shortlisted students will attend an aural/theory exam and interview.

The Primary ASPIRE Music program caters for our talented musicians. The program is designed to extend the knowledge and understanding of music theory by focusing on the three areas of performance, composition and analysis. Students develop confidence and the ability to present solo performances under the guidance of our experienced staff and industry mentors. They are offered opportunities to attend workshops, eisteddfods and competitions.

Physical Theatre

Who can apply: Years 4 to 6 students.
How to apply: Interested students must submit an application form along with a USB containing a performance of their 1–2 minute monologue. Shortlisted students will attend a performance workshop with trained staff.

The Senior Primary ASPIRE Physical Theatre program caters for students who display a high ability and passion in the area of drama. The program develops and extends the skills, techniques and processes of these students through a practical exploration of drama conventions under the guidance and mentoring of our trained staff. Students create, perform, analyse and respond to drama. They work collaboratively with their peers, mentor teachers and industry experts. Students are offered opportunities to be challenged beyond the classroom drama curriculum through workshops, excursions, competitions and performances.

Visual Arts and Design

Who can apply: Years 4 to 6 students.
How to apply: Interested students must submit an application form and attend a creative workshop with a panel of experienced teachers. Students will need to submit a folio of works in a digital or hardcopy form at this workshop. There should be a minimum of three pieces.

The Primary ASPIRE Visual Arts and Design program caters for students who are artistically minded and demonstrate a high ability and passion in the area of visual arts. The program develops and extends student skills in the creation and analysis of art work. Students explore and experiment with painting, drawing, sculpture and textiles under the guidance and mentoring of trained staff. They are offered opportunities to display their art work, attend workshops, visit galleries and work with industry professionals. ​
