Our Instrumental Music Program

At Varsity College, Instrumental Music is a co-curricular program offering group tuition for various instruments such as strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion. Students who participate in the program also join one or more of the school's ensembles, with lessons held during school hours and rehearsals either before or after school. Interested students can apply at the end of Year 2 (for strings) or Year 3 (for brass, woodwind, and percussion), and those who have learned an instrument elsewhere can integrate into the program at any time.

Varsity College also offers choirs, a Vocal Program, Guitar Program, and Piano Accompaniment Program to primary and secondary school students, with auditions held at the beginning of the calendar year.

Ensembles

Varsity College's ensembles are renowned for excellence with state Fanfare finals representation and regular placing at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. Our ensembles and choirs are regularly requested to perform at school and community events with students benefitting immensely from these varied opportunities.

College Productions

Varsity College offers students a chance to be involved in full-scale musical productions, staged once every two years at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. Students can participate in a variety of roles, from performers to backstage crew, set and costume creators, and make-up artists.

Our productions have included classic shows like Grease, The Addams Family, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Little Mermaid, as well as plays like Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. These opportunities allow students to develop their skills, explore their interests, and create lasting memories.
