Primary Gala Sport

Interschool sport is offered to Year 5 and 6 students in Term 2 of each school year. Varsity College joins with other schools in the Gold Coast South Primary Sports Association winter season to play against each other.

Students and coaches travel by bus to various venues across the southern Gold Coast. The sports offered are touch football (girls), netball (girls), AUSTAG (mixed), soccer (mixed), rugby league (boys) and Australian Football League(mixed).

Students not selected to play inter-school sport are involved in a Sport@School program based on fun and participation.

Greater Independent Public Schools Alliance | GIPSA

The interschool sport competition for Varsity College secondary students will be conducted throughout Terms 1 and 2. Varsity College students will be participating in 5 rounds of sport as part of the GIPSA competition. GIPSA schools competing in the program are Southport Independent Public High School, Helensvale Independent Public High School, Miami Independent Public High School and Varsity College.

It is compulsory that all students in Years 7 to 10 attend one of the activities offered within the Interschool Sports program. This will include an opportunity to trial in one of the many sports on offer or the alternative option of a school based activity for those students who are not selected into one of the competitive sporting teams.
